About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the Supervision of the Nursing Supervisor and/or the Medical Director to provide services for both preventative health and urgent health care needs for students at Northeastern University presenting to University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS). This is a full-time, 5 day a week, 40 hours a week position. Hours may include 12-4p on Saturdays and one weekday evening (except for July and August).

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Preparing patients for clinical visits and check in process, point of care testing, scheduling follow-up care for patients.
Providing patient instruction and education as directed by clinical staff.
Aiding in scheduling follow-up visits for students after clinic visits, hospital or specialist visits.
Assisting with medication administration in clinic/ vaccinations/therapeutic injections and related duties
Assisting in facility preparation and maintenance.
Providing education and support for students regarding self-care and navigation of health systems.
Providing clinical support and guidance to Medical Assistants.
Supporting implementation of defined quality assurance standards
Assisting with management of medical and pharmaceutical supply monitoring.
Participating in team meetings, peer and qualitative reviews as assigned, staff development programs as assigned and maintaining professional licenses and certifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current LPN in Nursing
Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in ambulatory setting.
Current Basic Life Support Certification
Current, unrestricted, Massachusetts LPN license for practice through Massachusetts Board of Nursing
Experience in computer systems required including web based and Microsoft office applications.
